Therapy for Expats, Immigrants, and International Lives
English-speaking psychotherapy for those living between cultures, countries, and identities
Living between cultures can be both enriching and disorienting. Relocation, immigration, and international life often bring challenges that are difficult to articulate to those who have not lived them.
As a French-American clinician and dual citizen, I understand this experience both personally and professionally. I am familiar with the complexity of building a life across borders, holding more than one identity, and existing between worlds.
Who I Work With
I work with English-speaking expatriates, immigrants, dual citizens, and internationally mobile individuals, including:
- Expats and immigrants adjusting to life in a new country
- Dual citizens navigating layered cultural and family identities
- International professionals managing relocation, isolation, or burnout
- People living at a distance from home, family, and familiar support
- Those who feel between worlds, not fully at home in any one place
Challenges That Often Arise
- A sense of isolation or not fully belonging
- Loss of identity, status, or community following relocation
- The strain of distance from familiar support networks
- Anxiety, stress, or low mood during periods of transition
- Relationship and family difficulties across distance and culture
- Not feeling fully understood by clinicians unfamiliar with this context
- Navigating complex family dynamics, including estrangement, from afar
Why Culturally-Aware Therapy Matters
Therapy tends to be most effective when you feel understood in your own language and within the context of your life. Working through significant emotional material in a second language, or with someone unfamiliar with the expatriate experience, can leave important things unspoken.
My aim is to offer a space in which your experience, across cultures, countries, and identities, can be considered fully.
How I Work
My approach is psychodynamic, trauma-informed, and systems-based. Together, we explore how your history, relationships, and cultural environment have shaped your present emotional life, and how meaningful and lasting change might be made.
Sessions are conducted online, in English and French, and scheduled flexibly to accommodate different time zones.
